Ick is a disease they can get. If they have it, it looks like sugar crystals on it. There are drops to add to the water to cure it. No big deal.
Since the fish doesn't like being in some bowl, why not name him something fun. Wait till you have him. See how he acts. Maybe get two. They do poop a lot. Just have a clean container of water (such as a gallon milk jug) sitting around to get room temp. and make sure the chlorine etc. has a chance to dissipate. Scoop them into a dish while you change the water (they will be in some of the old water, that is a good thing, less shock for them). If worse comes to worse and it starts to get sick, don't just flush it down the toilet. Put it in a plastic container, stick it in the freezer, once it's almost frozen, then flush it. It's more humane.

i don't have any names for you.
i don't like to name my pets untill after i've bought them.
you should think about getting a Beta Fish (siamese fighting fish). they come in lots of colors and need a minimal amount of care.
also if you put their tanks next to each other they will fan out their fins and turn bright colors. it's slightly more entertaining than a gold fish...
they normally only live about half a year, a goldfish will live longer (depending on care/conditions). I had one that has been alive for over a year. We're kind of just waiting for it to die, but it won't. Sometimes i forget to feed it or clean the water, but he's still kicking. weird.
I've named my fish Petruchio (a character in The Taming of the Shrew) and Napolean. Then a second set i named Kylar and Mikko. When i was really little i had two fish named Paul and Polly.
If you get the spotted ones Sugar and Spice would be good names <3

Dukey on a count of how much of that they produce and make sure the tank is a minumum size of 55 gallons and you better not think i am joking. When you keep goldfish in a small tank the amonia from the name I suggested builds up and stunts the goldfish growth.

Corpse if its going into a bowl because its gonna die.
Goldfish cannt live in bowls and its 10 gallons per baby/juvenile fat fancy goldfish, 20 gallons per baby juvenile long bodied goldfish. Adults need atleasty 50 gallons per fish because they get 12-14 inches long and have lifespans of 30 plus years and excrete alot of ammonia so they require alot of filtration and regular partial waterchanges.

Here's a quick list of names of fish my kids had over the years: Swimmy, Bart, Fin, Gil, Kissy-Lips, Gomez, and Cat Food. My son had "Cat Food". He lived a long fish life and the cat never got to eat him.
