It's good to pray for the world, to send 'the good wibes' out there, however it's a big task to ask and from my Christian perspective it won't achieve much. For a prayer to be effective, it has to be specific (and possibly backed up by insight, discerment etc).
On the other hand, perhaps the world is exactly in the state it should be in - in decay due to being really removed from Godly principals (being religious doesn't necesseraly mean having peace, joy, understanding, etc, it might mean being blind to truth, set up by rules and regulations dressed up as Godly, controlled etc.)
Do you know that 'the peace in the world' starts not just in one's own back yard or family, but in one's heart...and mind... where fear does not rule (many wars start from fears, usually unfounded, in blind beliefs that someone is going to harm you etc.). So I hope you learn how not to fret at the news, but not to be disensitised by it either, that you still have compassion and find hope, faith, love and sense of purpose, even when 'the world' is crushing around...

I agree that the world really and truly needs it. I dont pray, but I think the world needs a little prayer to maybe help fix all of this.
