Maybe. Eventually the female should lay eggs.

You cannot tell unless you witness the penis inserted into the cloaca (vent) of the female. Often they will try, but usually when turtles aare around 4-5" that is when successful mating occurs.

I think you should be asking how to tell if a female is gravid (pregnant): you can palpate (feel) for the eggs. Extent the back legs of the female turtle and hold it with one hand, as best as you can. The use the other free hand, thumb and index and feel in the opening when the legs come out of the shell. The you feel eggs in there if she is gravid. I'd palpate every week or so to see if there are any eggs.

If there are eggs, you should provide a nest to lay. The easiet way is to fill a rubbermaid with sand and soil mixture with a 60-75 W bulb on it. Put the female is for 1-2 hours a day. She will lay when she is ready. Often females will lay in the water as well.

It is important that female lay the eggs or else they will be egg-bound and have complications. What to do with the eggs? Well, my advice for most species is throw them out. Often the eggs are infertile anyways, since the female lays a lot of infertile eggs when they are young. If eventhey are fertile, there is an overwhelming amount of unwanted RES and other common turtles. No need to add to that. Toss out the eggs is what most keepers do.

Good luck.

I have had turttles myself and normally in 99% of the cases they can only mate when you have dropped there tank temeratures below 10degress celcuis which will put them into highbanation, some time you may find something that looks like an egg on the bottom of the tank,I can't remember what that is called but a pet store told me it was something to do with the conditions in the tank and it was not not an egg,and they also lay a few more than one at a time.If there are stones or sand in the tank they also would have berried them.

WELL ITS KINDA LIKE A HUMAN... CAN YOU TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT YOUR CO WORKER IF THEY HAD SEX BEFORE WORK? NOT REALLY. SO IT GOES THE SAME FOR ANIMALS MOST OF THE TIME... I WOULD JUST KEEP AN EYE ON THE TURTLE KEEP HER IN A CONTAINER WITH THE PROPER SAND AND SOIL MIXTURE. FIND OUT THE GESTATION OF YOUR TYPE OF TURTLE AND WHAT THE PROPER INCUBATION TEMP IS. YOU CAN GET A INCUBATOR CHEAP ON EBAY.
GOOD LUCK!
