If you have a laptop with a decent video card, you can still do it....I do it with my laptop all the time.
The first monitor will be your laptop's LCD. So, hook the monitor up to the video port in the back. Then right click on a blank part of the desktop, go to PROPERTIES. In the display properties dialog box that opens, go to the SETTINGS tab. There you will likely see a shaded box with two other boxes in it a 1 and a 2. Click on 2. Then go toward the bottom where it says "Extend my windows desktop to this monitor" and check the box. Then click OK. You should be able to do it if you have a decent video card

just make sure that you enable both the card and onboard graphics in the bios then simply install the necessary drivers for each, then connect the monitors at the same time. Only one should work at first but then go to the desktop>>properties>>settings...there should be an option to use both monitors and all this other stuff...

These guys COULDN'T Be more WRONG!! I am a Computer Tech/ Sales for Best Buy Co., and there is NO way to have dual moniter for a computer without a video card with dual outputs. If you try to use both video cards, neither will work, then good luck getting your computer to display ANYTHING!

i'm also a tech but for circuit city, the perk of having a card with dual/triple monitor output is so that you can expand your desktop to utilize more space, but if you just want to see the same image but on two different monitors i'm going to recommend going on ebay for like 5 bucks and getting a vga splicing dongle. (search: dual vga cable)
