you should go w/ a Guinia Pig. Although Ferrets are awesome, fun, loving pet/s...they are high maintance when you take care of them properly. They need out of the cage in a ferret safe enviroment at least (1) hour everyday(supervised), they poop alot so their litter needs changed at least (1) a week..but mostly if you want a bite free, fun ferret they require frequent interaction. If you do decide on a ferret..buy a baby, and not an albino(Their the white ones and most BITE!) I have a ferret and she is my 3rd(her name is TAZZIE after the Tazmaniane Devil.) None of my ferrets ever bit anyone and they are fun awesome pets. Hope this helps..Good Luck!!!

Ferrets are very high maintenance. They need at least 4 hours of out of cage playtime in a ferret-proofed room every day. They aren't rodents, they are more like dogs or cats. And they need your personal attention and interaction as well. Then you will need to feed, water, and clean their litterbox as well daily. There are also the tasks of ear cleaning and nail clipping that have to be done regularly. You can't have a ferret and not expect to get nipped a few times. They are like puppies, especially the kits. And as adults they will nip to get attention.
Guinea pigs also need interaction daily, you can't just throw them in a cage and ignore them. You need to be prepared to tame them though, especially if they are from a petstore. And they have their own special needs as well. A large cage, fresh hay daily, fresh veggies, and you need to make sure they get vitamin c in their diet.
You need to do more research on both species to determine for yourself what best fits your lifestyle.

Guinea pigs can be handled without biting(well, not so much biting). They rarely bite. They can be really cute, especially the abyssian type. They do poo a lot, but they eat their poo(heh). I had to clean them evry 3 days. ferrets, they are eeeexxxxtrrreeeeammmmly cute, but they have sharp teeth and nibble on your toes and fingers. You can play with them more, but they nibble on too many things. My friend's lil guy almost died because he swallowed some foam. I suggest guinea pigs, but they can be really picky with food sometimes. GUINEA PIGS :)!!!

I have ferrets and if properly taken care of they are GREAT PETS....It takes 10 minutes twice a day to clean pen and make sure food and water is fresh.....they are very affectionate and will play with you till the end of time. What you describe you are looking for is a GOLD FISH
