I have seen soooo many questions about 9/11 movies and everyone is saying its too soon and that its stupid to make the movies. I personally think its great that they are making the movies because then it shows what others went through and others perspectives.

I don't think there is anyone in this country who wasn't profoundly affected by the incidents of September 11, 2001, and lots of us aren't ready for them to become "entertainment". For five days, I sat glued to CNN, reliving the events over and over, trapped in some kind of horrified disbelief. So, at least for now, I don't need or want anyone else's perspective.

For others less curmudgeonly than I, such as yourself, the film itself is a good release, a way to deal with the feelings we all have. So bless you for your levelheadedness. I may well take your balanced approach to the issue and go see the movie after all. Seems like your question may be more like an answer for me.

I agree with deep_crawl and dragonwychy and just about everyone that answered. Yes in ways its never going to be okay with everyone.

I saw the movie today and was disappointed that the movie was just all on the 2 survivors. I was expecting it to go through what has been happening in the past several years. The war and everything.

Many are still wounded from the day and feel like hollywood is trying to make money out of us. I think that this movie should have been seen for free. It affects so many but its a must see. You need to see what really happened in those buildings and not on the outside.

I dont really know what to say. I hope they do make a movie one day in the near future about this whole thing. Starting from 9/11 and going to present time with the war(s) going on.

I think for some people it is still too soon. There are some people who will never be ok with them...even 50 years from now. For me, I honestly have no interest in seeing one right now because I watched the TV all day on 9/11 and waited by the phone to see if my cousins, my aunt and my 2nd cousin were still alive. I have seen a couple of documentaries about it and I personally saw the plane that hit the Pentagon. It wasn't fun. I don't have a problem with the movies being made though. There are plenty of other movies about there that deal with emotional things as well. Check out Gettysburg for example. Some people just think the films are being made to profit off of a sad day in American history. Others realize that these stories tell amazing tales of bravery and can also offer closure to some who did not previously have it.

For some people it is a way to heal, but for others it will never be appropriate. For example, my grandma is 89, and she still refuses to see Schindler's List after all these years since the Holocaust was so horrible. Those memories are still to painful even though she didn't have to experience it for herself. For me, I don't think I'll ever be able to see a movie about 9/11. It is very personal for me, and I don't know if a movie could do justice to those feelings.

I don't think we need to be reminded by Hollywood about the tragedy. No doubt we will always remember what happened during the day, and the sacrifices made by the heros and we'll never will forget. So I still don't know why Hollywood needs to show any more.

Yes it's still too soon. We still haven't forgotten and Hollywood knows it so they'll take the chance on some fortunes feeding on our emotions.

It's not right at all.

I think the movies are less about informing people about the trials and tragedies associated with 9/11, as they are about making money. Movies like this tap into a soft spot with people, like the Passion of the Christ, and take advantage of it to make sales. People tend to sympathize with the movies, because they have strong feelings about the events they are associated with, not necessarily the quality of the films.

i agree...at first i thought it was too soon but then i realized its been 5 years. since then there has been the tsunami, hurricanes, war in iraq, etc and i think 9/11 has slipped from most people's minds. the previews for the world trade center movie has recently refreshed my memory of how brave these people are, and how we've forgotten that. i think its great theyre making that movie and all the smaller tv movies

One thing I am a bit upset about is that the movie is completely sanitized of any reference to Islam, muslims or even terrorists.

Not only is that dangerously unrealistic, considering Stone's political views, I think it is intentional....as a way of aiding and abedding terrorists. The movie subtly shifts things from being an attack on us by an implaccable and thoroughly evil and despicable enemy to almost a natural disaster with no one to blame.

If people forget that we have dangerous enemies who desperately want to kill us, we will let our guard down. And they will succeed again.

I have very a very strong suspicion that Stone wants that to happen.

9/11 is sad history bringing back bad memories of all the lives that were lost, but to some that is just an wake up call.
