It seems humans are not very responsible about using protection from STD's. HIV being the worst case scenerio and the Human Papaloma Virus and Herpes Virus a close second. I always swore while I was married that no sex was worth getting an std for. But after the divorce I caved in. Fortunately I was lucky and tested clean. But I still think...WHAT IF? I had to wait six months to be tested again for HIV and was relieved when it was also negative. But I know there are a lot of people on line meeting and having casual sex... and without protection.

Male or female, if you are one of them can you please explain why?

Beer.

I know that seems like a joke answer, but the majority of casual encounters between consenting adults involves alcohol in some way - and typically no small amount of it. As a social lubricant, a few drinks can work wonders, but alcohol has proven time and again a catalyst for poor decision-making.

When people are sober, even in the throes of passion, they are cognizant of the possibilities of STDs and unwanted pregnancy. But add a little booze to the mix and people get downright stupid. We make incredibly poor decisions and often act without thinking at all. And unprotected sex is one of those things that just "happens" when you're loaded. Scary to think, but also pretty common.

Beer seems to me to be an unnamed accomplice in the spread of STDs.

I have unprotected sex, but I'm married and have been for almost 2 years. I'm on birth control to prevent pregnancy until we are ready to have children, and my husband and I have both been tested and are clean!!

Because I'm in a long term relationship with my boyfriend. We've both been tested, we're both clean and we're monogamous.
