Is there such a thing as not being able to forget the man or woman that you loved and lost long ago FOREVER??
How many have actually tried and FAILED to replace this person?

well for me, it was like l put in my poem..
My heart beats a different way,
every time I look at you.

I wish I could explain it,
but I don’t know what to do.

I’ve never felt this way before,
about anyone I’ve ever met.

There’s just something about you,
that my heart won’t let me forget.

There’s not an hour that goes by,
that I’m not thinking about you.

and how I would give anything,
just to be able to say, I do.

You’re the one that I’ve longed for,
for so many restless years.

But now my love will be forever unknown,
while I try to fight off the tears.

Because now I find you in front of me,
as I stand here towards the end.

When today my heart will fall to pieces,
as I watch you, marry my friend.

I think I'm still in love with my first love, my high school sweetheart. I've only seen her a couple of times over the last thirty years, but I think she knows there is an unspoken bond between us. We've since remarried, more than one apiece, raised children, lived a life. I talked to her not too long ago, I told her that I've never lived a day without knowing that we'd get back together. I said that's the way I've been able to get by.

I watched the one person i can not forget go with my cousin after we broke up and it ripped my heart out.. even though i was engaged to be married and like 3 weeks before the wedding.. i could not shake him.. even to this day i still think about what a wonderful husband i have that i would not trade for the world.. but what would have happened if i would of smacked her in the face and took him back.. they are now engaged to get married and i got my invitation in the mail 2 days ago.. i think it was be good for me to go and watch them get married and be as happy as my husband and I are. but still can not forget about that ex lover. don't think i ever will.. replace him no i found something better.

Honestly you cannot and i repeat you can't replace another soul, in anyway shape or form. I believe you can never forget your first true love but you really should not dwell on it either. You just move on and find the person that makes you happy and truly loves you for you, as well as you love them and make them happy, I don't believe there is only one soul mate for each person. Be Happy.

Going through something similar right now. I am kicking my own butt here because i let go of something that i and he wanted. I think it was just us being young. The really sucky part is that I am married for the time being and he is over serving in Iraq. I guess school crushes never die down esp if he/she was a decent person.

You will never forget someone that you loved. You just hold on to the good memories and remember the love. You overlook the bad things. I still have feelings for my first love. I love him the way he was then - not the way he is today. Today I can't stand to be around him.

you will never forget your first love.I'm married now but I think about this person all the time. And the thing was we knew we loved each other but it always seemed like we could never be together. and the worst is when you shared a special song, or a special place, or special time. but as long as I have him in my thoughts that's all that matters. I will always cherish that time.

No, you never replace that person but you have to always remember why you are not with that person from long ago too. But now, he is a bad memory and how could I have been so foolish to love him for so long, he is umemployed and never dates and drinks like a fish.

I'm trying to figure out who this person was, since I always seem to go for the same type of person, and it's almost like I see this one person in everyone I have a strong attraction to, but it's not quite them. Only, like I said, I don't know who it is. Maybe past life crap.

I don't think anyone could replace another person. There is nothing wrong with reminescing, and enjoying past moments. You simply need to allow yourself to put the past where it belongs and move forward in search of more happy moments.
