Just sleep when you feel tired and don't drink coffee or tea in the day time (caffeine).. try not to use lights or computers close to bed time either.
Make sure your bed is comfortable and you take care of everything mentally you need to before bed. If you sleep solidly for 5-6 hrs, that's fine.. though since you're young you might require up to 8 or so.
Don't stress about this.. you will get over it.

Cut out ALL caffeine from your diet, exercise for about 30 mins./day , make sure to get to bed the same time every night and wake up the same time in the morning (if possible)
I've had sleep problems for years and this always helps me.

Cut out the caffeine after 5 pm in the day.
Start trying to relax at least one hour prior to going to sleep.
This means don't do homework in bed, or watch tv in bed.
You could try relaxation tapes, such as rain falling, brooks babbling...
You could try taking a warm shower ,and drinking a glass of warm milk.
These things can be tried before you even attempt any drug.

Try drinking warm milk. I know that sounds disgusting, but it helps to relax. If you don't like that, have some decaf tea. If you don't want to drink anything, take a bath before you go to bed. If it's the silence that keeps you away, listen to music or leave the television on. Hope this helps.
