Bless your heart!

The key is your overall comfort. First off, it doesn't go in very far. The goal is to have the entire tampon inserted so that you can't feel it when you walk.

Try just the tip about two inches inserted, then push the applicator. That should be a good start. But try several (don't feel bad about "wasting" a few as you get used to them. Just don't flush them down the toilet, they clog!

Also, don't wear them at night, as they can cause too much absorbtion, which can lead to problems (such as toxic shock).

Make sure you change them every few hours at the least.

using tampons AND pads is normal--gives you a bit more time between changes.

Good luck!

If you are 12 and your period is heavy, you should tell your mother to take you to the doctor, it may be not normal. But maybe it is and you think it's heavy because you don't know how to use the pads or tampons. You have to change them several times a day. And follow the instructions on the box, they have very descriptive guidelines. If the tampon is not inserted correctly there could be problems.

It depends on the type of tampon you're using so it's best to follow the directions on the box.

Since you have heavy periods, continue using a thin pad or light days with the tampon because it's possible to leak.

The directions should tell you that, hun. Hold it in the middle, where the two halves meet. Insert it. When your fingers touch your body, push the plunger part.

Sweetie, there are instructions with each box. I tend to go as far as possible without causing pain and without losing the end to push up the cotton.

as far as it wil go. you cant insert it too far. it wont get stuck. but it is unusual for a 12 year old to hav such a heavy period. you should discuss this with your doctor.

until the ribs of the two tubes (the big tube has a smaller tube at the base of it..there are 'ribs' surrounding the outer side) meet up to you body (vagina opening), then just push gently the smaller tube into the bigger tube and gently remove and throw away

it depends on brand, but most have little finger grips - place your fingers on these little grips and insert until you hit your fingers, then press the cardboard pieces together to insert the tampon.

stop when it's uncomfortable. tampons can't get "lost" in there but don't hurt yourself trying to insert farther than necessary.
