That is what I usually do, you do not have to answer their questions.
You just click under their name on "report abuse", and that is it.
However most people will also say something like a smart comment or "reported" so that they can get the 2 points.

I routinely report the very worst of the offenders without answering their questions. The mere act of answering them, even to insult the asker or tell them that they have been reported gives them a thrill. They offender knows they got to you, and you lose. So, just as you suggest, very simply, people should report the sickos and do not leave your answer for them.

You have a very good point. Most are just acting out to get attention. Ignoring them is probably the best thing (plus reporting them).

Most people just do it for the 2pnts.
If yahoo made a rule that the 2pnts gets taken away if the question gets deleted, there'd be less of that

My understanding is that you can do precisely that (report someone without responding to their question).

maybe they're just angry lonely people and by ignoring them you will only make them more determined and anyway you can just ignore them yourself without starting an us against them thing
