I play saxophone and guitar. I started with saxophone in 4th grade, when I was nine. I taught myself guitar at 15, using some old books my parents had.
I'm better at the saxophone than I am the guitar, simply because I've been playing the former for a longer period of time--20+ years more or less continuously vs. 15 not so continuously.
I'd like to pick up another saxophone, perhaps a tenor to complement the alto "axe" I have now. The notes are fingered the same way on all the types.
I'd like to get into the bass guitar, too.

I had such a thirst for music...i could not get enough. i've played violin, i learned when i was 9 at school. and i started playing piano when i was 9 also. I had heard lots of beautiful classical piano music, and i always dreamed of playing like that. I'm playing piano still. at 11 i started playing the flute and played for 3 years. i liked piccolo also. it fit in my backpack really well, instead of having to carry my flute case around with me.
I absolutely LOVED the flute!!! I was intimidated though to play it because it looked difficult and there were MANY keys on it.
at 14, i started playing percussion...the piano experience came in handy when i started playing xylophone, marimba, vibes etc. but the marimba was my thing. I played at school in our Drumline. that was an AWESOME season. I had the BEST music teacher ever! He has an incredible passion for music, it's unbelieveable!
So now i've just stuck with piano, and i love it! i hope to play it forever.

I probably don't classify as actually "playing" an instrument. At least not anymore. I took two years of clarinet in grade school, and I really believe that I could pick one up now and muddle through "Man on the Flying Trapeze" or "Little Brown Jug," but I doubt that really counts, eh? Considering that it was about forty years ago. Oh GAWD am I OLD! Sigh...
