Do you know anything about “Ike”?

I know its nickname of General Eisenhower. I wish to know its derivation. Does it have a specific meaning too? Or whether it was anything to do with “Ikebana” – the Japanese art of flower arrangement?

I know the song was "we like Ike",, pretty sure.. Maybe that's why???
