I am 17 and I live in Magnolia, Texas. I want to get my nose pierced I was wondering if you guys could tell me any good places in/near the Magnolia or Tomball area. Also, I would like some tips on what to look for: i.e. is it best to use a needle or a gun? How long does it take to heal/before I can take it out? Cleaning tips? Thank you guys!

I'm not sure about shops in your area, but let me offer up these tips for ya:

If they come at you with a piercing gun...run. The guns cannot be cleaned properly. They have mostly plastic parts, which cannot be put in an autoclave. A quick wipe with alcohol will not sterilize the gun. You should only be pierced with a hollow tri-tip surgical needle. The pain factor is considerably less with a needle than a gun...the needle is sharpened with a laser and makes the whole process much less painful. The jewelry used in a gun is bad also...even if you want a stud, you don't want the back on it. Get a nostril screw after the healing period.

Jewelry is vital. 316L surgical steel or 14k gold are the best for a fresh piercing. A hoop will allow you to clean it MUCH easier.

Clean the piercing primarily with antibacterial soap and water. Make sure you get the little bit of a scab off the ring completely before you move the ring. Betadine is what I recommended to most of my clients, but many people are having good results with a seasalt mixture.

Yeah, going to a tattoo shop/piercing studio is gonna be a little more expensive, but trust me...its worth the cost for the safety.

well i cant tell you where to go, but i got mine done with a piercing gun which is going to be alot less painful then going to a piercing places that may only use needles. check it out first
if you get it done with a gun, you just have to leave the stud in for a week and then you can change it to what you want. ive had mine for about 10 years, and it still starts to close up if i leave it out longer than a couple days

my stud took awhile to heal. sometimes it gets like pused over, but you just keep putting the solution on. I use wound wash from an aerosol can OR you can use sea salt. And usually they don't do guns on your nose. It's this big thick needle, and surprisingly it doesn't hurt that badly. Clean it as often as you feel necessary, def. a couple times a day. and don't twist it like you would if you got your ears pierced, it slows down the healing process. good luck!

i got my nose pierced when i was 17 yrs. old 4 yrs. ago. i got it done in a urban shop run by koreans that weren't supposed to pierce my nose but they only charged $5.00. they did it with an ear piercing gun and i could take it out the same day and change it just clean it like 5 times a day with peroxide and it's good. make sure you clean the inside as well as the outside. believe me you don't want an infection in your nose it will stink!
