You can't buy birth control at a store. You can buy them in Mexico at pharmacies there. I believe it is illegal for obvious reasons. There are risks related to the pill. If you pick up a womens magazine, and find an advertisement for birth control pills, on the other side you will find a detailed guide of the risks associated with taking the pill. It is important for you to see a doctor if you are considering the pill. They can prescribe one that is right for you. There are so many to choose from. Over the counter you can buy condoms, foams, etc. If you are afraid your parents will find out, and you are looking to do this on your own, you might want to consult a family planning center. Until you are covered, don't take any risks. Kids are a big responsibiliy. Good Luck.

Birth control slip is given to the patient to take the pharmacy (Longs Drugs Store, Rite Aid) or any store that has a pharmacy and then will be administered to the patient when time to pick them up based on refill time.
Just as any other medication if not given in the doctor's office at the visit.
Birth control can also be administered at clinics at the appointment.
When I first started taking birth control, my gyno gave me 3 month supply and then wrote me a prescription slip to give to the pharmacy for the remaining year. She also called it into the pharmacy I will use to verify it.
You have to have prescription from gyno/doctor or the clinic. Can't just go into a store and get them as you can cough drops or tampons.

So what if you're buying birth control pills to have sex. That's responsible but use condoms as well. There are worst things you can end up with than an unplanned pregnancy. AIDS for example. You can go to your local health department and receive a prescription for birth control pills. Depending on your circumstances, they may be free.

you have to get them through your doctor, like a gyno or a general practioner, they have to monitor you on them just to make sure the fit is right because there are many types and some work better for people than others. I take seasonale but i gained 15 lbs on them in the first month and worked off 14 of it in the following 2months, if i hadnt worked off the weight i would have had to take a different type becuase thats a side effect and not a very safe one with the whole obesity epidemic

There are some types of OTC birth control, however,
if you are going to take birth control you need to discuss it with a professional since there are different types for each individual.

No you cant, its a prescription drug. The pill effects your hormone balances and therefore a Dr would need to check your blood pressure, give you the correct type of pill (they are not all the same) and inform you of all the likely side effects...so you know what to do if it doesnt suit your metabolism etc.

no you have to have a prescription for them.. You will have to go to the doc for an exam and they will figure which one will be best for you. You could go to a clinic or health dept. Some states it is free to get the pill.
