hey, listen, i started a band with my friends. we are all attending a semi-strict private school, which probably won't let us play in front of the school. their all boarding students, but i live a block from the school. we have set up a once-or-twice-a-week practice regimen. we are a melodic hardcore punk band, so its not like were on of those punk-pop posers. we are going to try to be like rise against or minor threat. or maybe system of a down. my question is: any good advice?

we are going to try to schedule gigs during the weekends, so they can come over. and i swear if anyone insults you will be reported for good reason.

start slow with small gigs. in my school there are bands and the school lets them perform. maybe in like performing arts center they would let you play as an opening number for something. its going to be a long hard road so i would say think about if your commited to it. and just get as many gigs as you can because they are like practice

Uhm,well i think you should like tell everyone about you at school,like hand out papers or just ask people if they would like to go to your show,thats what i would do

Just have fun. Taking yourself to seriously is the fastest way to get burned out.

if you have any coffee shops around thats a good place to have a show and just hand out flyers
