i need any info oradvice on a hermit crab. i've done researh, but i need to know what real owners think

We own 49 Land Hermit crabs… and have owned hermit crabs for over 15 years now successfully. What do we think? We love them. They are not that easy to take care of and they are certainly not a typical pet that you take out and play with. Unless one really understand EVERYTHING that it takes to own them successfully then it is a recipe for sure disaster. We continue to study and research them, not a week goes by that we are not learning more and more and improving on what we know and we share that information as it comes in.
Many individuals fail at keeping land hermit crabs or are unhappy while keeping them because they never got accurate information and never got a true understanding on what it takes.
The majority of the websites provide out dated and inaccurate information, many of the links are given freely on Answers to people like you who want information. It is a shame because that is why owners are unhappy, bored and the hermit crabs do not live long.
If a web-site is not updated at very least weekly, then it is terribly outdated. Our website is updated almost everyday. Our forums are updated the moment new info is discovered. Our book was just published in July and is the one and only current and fully updated hermit crab care book on the market and the only one that has made the pledge to update with a new version at very least once per year.
We enjoy and love these creatures so much we are also advocates, working with retail establishments improving their in store displays and set-ups and intervening when abuse and neglect is present.
We will be traveling to schools, public gatherings and other events to spread awareness and educate the general public, owners and non-owners alike.

Get 2 shells and place them in an aquarium. Step back 3 feet. Stare at the shells for 20 minutes per day for a month. Now you know what it's like to own hermit crabs!

I've had several hermit crabs. They are not very easy to take care of u always have to give them fresh water and food they cant eat or drink out of anything metal. They are really cool pets to have and i think they are really cute.

Years ago we had some when my kids were little. They are easy and I would definitely recommend them. We gave them water on a sponge and used commercial hermit crab food.

Just make sure you water it and feed it everyday. Give them a big enough cage too walk around, and play with it a few times a week. I've had one for 4 years by doing that. Hope everything works out! =)

They are really boring, unless you take them out everyday, all they do is stay in their shells. My daughter had 5, they never ate, they never moved! When she would take them out they would crawl around for about 5 minutes, then go back in their shells. We did everything by the book. They never ate, but they never died either. We finally gave them away!
