You’ve got your main two or three puppets here every day. They set up their so-called ‘questions’, which are really no more than personal attacks. Then you have your follow-up puppets, the ‘tag-alongs’, who instantly back up the front man, no matter how inane or outlandish the claim.

The ‘tags’ are pathetically easy to spot. They join Yahoo, come right to Politics & Government and adding their scripted replies. The ‘tags’ seem to change every week to make it seem more legit. The front men, the ones who aren’t kicked out of Yahoo, keep on spewing their lies.

Interesting, huh?

Travis Smiley interviewed a man Monday night (I forgot the author’s name) who has done investigative research on the tactics being employed by the far right (I’m sure the left is guilty of this, too) and went undercover to work for them. He has his paychecks, his scripted replies and other such evidence, or so he claims. The book is coming out this fall.

Well, friends, there are many links to the use of public forums to use dirty trick politics. And from these links and many more it looks like both Democrats and Republicans are guilty.

Twilight Walk is the only one who has figured it out so far. Satire seldom works on the too serious.

I'd agree that there are people (generally on the fringes) who run around trying to foment opposition to one political POV or another. It's been going on forever, and will continue...it's what happens in a free-speech society. You can lie, spew, pontificate and annoy, almost at will.

I think a better question might be: "who are the most vulnerable and most likely to believe that we are all being successfully manipulated by powerful conspirators?"

If you are outer-directed (see the world as "happening to you"), you are likely to be paranoid and threatened by this fringe activity. You'll obsess on it until you convince yourself that nothing you hear is true.

If you are inner-directed (see yourself as "happening to the world") you are likely to dismiss this as fringe activity by mostly out-of-the-mainstream zealots.

Most productive people I know are not very concerned about thought control (either as victims or perpetrators).

Gee, it was just two weeks ago, you posted the question “Do The Headcases Who Post Here Really Think They're Going To Change Our Minds?” And now you think they are paid puppets? That's quite a flip-flop!

Once you commented that you suspected some of the posters are one person with several IDs, so he can vote for himself & answer his own questions. This is a much more likely (& less paranoid) hypothesis.

Does anybody here have any idea what author he is refering to? He thought it might be Geoffrey Nunberg but I went through the entire transcripst from Tavis Smiley's show & couldn't find anything about anyone working undercover or being given a script from the far right. http://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/archive/200608/

Isn't that the concept of Answers? People post questions and you either agree or disagree and add your two cents. I'm not sure what your point really is here. I'll readily admit that there are certain people that post things here that I pretty much always agree with. When things are put so well and they are pretty much the same thoughts that you have, there is not much more to do other than add a supportive or non-supportive comment. You're seeming really bitter to me right now.

Oh I clicked on this question thinking you meant politics in general, like US politics especially.

Yeah, maybe you're right, and maybe you're not, but you do not make yourself look extremely samaritan by making such an obvious attempt to poke fun at others. Don't worry, people know they're there on one level or another, but sinking down to their level only makes you one of them.

So how many do you think trained at Grand Cateau??

Just for the record I think my address has been on yahoo since "W" took office in 2000. It was the only George name that wasn't taken. By misspelling emperor I was able to get a name close to the action.

Go big RedGo
