2x^2 - 11x + 12 = 0
2*(x^2 - (11/2)x + 6) = 0

Divide (-11/2) by 2 ----> -11/4
Square it -----> 121/16

2*(x^2 - (11/2)x + (96/16) + (25/16) - (25/16) ) = 0
2*(x^2 - (11/2)x + (121/16) - (25/16) ) = 0
2*[x^2 - (11/2)x + (121/16) ] - [2* (25/16)] = 0
2*[x^2 - (11/2)x + (121/16) ] = [2* (25/16)]
2(x - (11/4))^2 = (25/8)

(x - (11/4))^2 = 25/16

x - (11/4) = +/- (5/4)
x = 16/4 or 6/4
= 4 or 3/2

Divide out the 2:
x^2-11/2 x + 6 = 0

Complete the square:
x^2-11/2 x +121/16 + 6 - 121/16 = 0

Factor and solve:
(x - 11/4)^2 - 25/16 = 0
(x - 11/4)^2 = 25/16
x - 11/4 = +- 5/4
x=11/4+- 5/4
x=4 or 3/2

2x^2 - 11x + 12 = 0
2x^2 - 11x = -12
x^2 - (11/2)x = -6

find half of (11/2), square it, add to both sides

x^2 - (11/2)x + (121/16) = (25/16)
(x - (11/4))^2 = (25/16)
x - (11/4) = (±5/4)
x = (11/4) ± (5/4)
x = (6/4) or (16/4)
x = (3/2) or 4

ANS : (3/2) or 4

First step - divide all terms by 2.

x^2 - 11/2x + 6 = 0

Now complete the square. Do not look at the other answers. Try it yourself.
