(6/30/00, 5 p.m. ET) - Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah, and Ginuwine are among the acts slated to appear in a forthcoming hip-hop version of The Wizard Of Oz, called The O.Z., according to published reports.

Little Richard and Patti LaBelle are also said to be attached to the Fox Broadcasting Co. production. The Dorothy character is said to be a successful but lonely hip-hop producer based in Los Angeles in the new version. After an earthquake rocks the city, Dorothy and her dog Toto end up in an area called the Big O.Z. Actors have yet to be cast in the roles of Dorothy and the Tin Man, but Latifah will portray Glenda The Good Witch. Rhymes will be the Cowardly Lion, while Ginuwine will play the Scarecrow. LaBelle is slated to be the Wicked Witch Of The West, and Little Richard will be the man who appears behind the curtain impersonating the Wizard.

Michael Jackson and Diana Ross appeared in the film The Wiz, an R&B take on the Wizard Of Oz, in 1978.
