a lot of money could have been made way before now... don't say its because they don't want to offend anyone, that's crazy, you see their deaths , the real footage on tv, and many other places... there's other reasons why, i just don't know yet.

jade H. is probably right, our government seems to be very good (or bad) at passing all kinds of laws.

There are people that feel that not enough time has passed to discuss it.

it took 50 years to do a real movie about Pearl Harbor (not just "From Here to Eternity")

Well, Oliver Stone took a Giant Step in making the movie, and now he is getting bashed, even though he did a superb job, according to interviews of the Fireman that was saved. He said he felt it was a good movie. He was offered the acting role of himself, however in memory of all who perished, he chose to be an advisor on the set.
I assume the US Gov't. would like to control the media coverage on this topic, as much as possible. Good for Stone.... And, as I have said before, when they showed the man, holding the hands of two ladies, I think that took more power than fear, to jump.
It was jump or burn. I wonder if Stone showed that scene. I saw the first footage of them, in the news coverage, then they immediately removed it. However, I later found it on the Net. Sometimes if you catch the early news, and in the repeat program later on, you will notice that it has been scrutinized, and changed to fit a particular image. Politics once again. So, everyone should get STONED, Oliver, that is....

It's considered distasteful. Actual news footage about a horrifying event is one thing. Movies and drama and television shows about this is seen by many, many people as making light of a terrible tragedy, and would be considered inappropriate. A lot of money would likely have been wasted, as the event was still too near and dear to people's hearts for them to want to see it dramatized by actors in Hollywood. It's a monetary risk. And they don't want to offend anyone. Over 2000 people died. It's not a joking matter.

I watched the real thing, I will not go see the movie. I do no think people should get rich off other peoples tragedy. Now, maybe if the money were going to the surviving victims or the families of those lost that tragic day.

A lot of people do not want to re-live 9/11. What really surprises me is that they wait until September to release the movie, why didn't they just wait another month and release it on 9/11?

People watch movies so that they can experience a scenario presented on film. You go watch the movie "signs" for example because we all wonder what it would be like to be invaded by aliens. BUT, we already know what it feels like to watch many people die on television in a manner predicted by only a few (like Tom Clancy). It hurts my heart to think about that experience. I already know what it feels like.

Besides, aren't we all aware of terror. Red, Orange, Blue, Green...blah, blah, blah

There was a law or something passed that said no films were to be created based upon it out of respect for the victims and victims famalies etc...

It would have been to insensetive and controversial to make a movie too soon after it happened. Think about it, people's families were killed during this tragedy!
