It's just a question that popped into my mind suddenly, but are there any such sites that'll let you read a full book without having to buy it? If so, what is the website?

The Gutenberg Project lists 18,000 books whose copyrights have expired. You can also often find full books of more recent works on websites from other countries, like Australia, where the copyright laws are not so lengthy.

You might also try Bartleby.com.

Because of copyright laws, few modern works are on the Internet. But many older works, the "classics," are readily available.

But do you really want to sit in front of your computer to read a book? Get thyself to a library.
