My neice is going to be born and I am thinking of using part of my student loan money to pay to save her cord blood because her mother, my brother, nor I have the money to pay for it. Is it worth the investment? What about next year? I doubt she nor my brother will have the money then either.

No, I've never actually heard of anyone I know benefiting from this blood. But what I do know is that it's important for your baby to get all the blood from their cord at birth. After your baby is born, the doctors should let the cord pulsate until it's done. That blood is the best blood your baby could have, and is very oxygenated and full of all sorts of good stuff. Maybe we'd have less sick babies if we'd give them all the benefits that God designed for them...

I donated both my kids cord blood and one was recently chosen to be used for a patient with bone cancer. They call to follow up on the child before using it to make sure the donor is healthy. It made me cry I was so happy to help someone's fight with cancer a little easier and it cost me nothing. You could always donate to the cord blood bank if you can't afford to save it for private use.

i wanted to donate my son's but the hospital he was born at didn't accept donations. my obstetrician and pediatrician said if there is no family history of health problems it is not necessary. you should use your money to save for the child's education instead. why break the bank when you probably will never need it. cord banking is ridiculously expensive.

I used viacord and set it up on line and they deliver the kit out to take to the medical institution. regrettably i did not take the kit with me on a checkup and ended up having an emergency c-area. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the nurses were very good and in each and every of the commotion they jogged my memory about it and that they had a spare kit. i imagine it value round $1500 yet i can't be particular as i do not shop in ideas. There are some cons to the perception yet i felt that the pros outweighed them. For one, i had a pal who lost her infant to maximum cancers and if she had saved twine blood it ought to have helped her. I doubt it ought to have saved her existence in spite of the undeniable fact that it ought to of decreased the quantity of soreness she had to pass with the aid of from bone marrow transplants etc. After chemo they could were waiting to make stronger white blood cells and make her experience a touch extra effective particularly than wait till she equipped them up herself. i'm no specialist yet i imagine that there are a tremendous variety of reward. With technological awareness coming up as right now because it is, there'll be further and extra ailments that ought to correctly be dealt with with the aid of making use of twine blood. no longer only for the baby yet also for the direct relations if needed. in case you may't have sufficient money it, they'll take the blood for you and reserve it. if your newborn needs it contained in the destiny they'll supply it to you for loose. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the draw back is that it ought to visit some different person in the adventure that they favor it first. The remark above says that they take it besides. this isn't authentic, they in hardship-free words take it in case you supply consent.

I do not know anyone who has, and the chances of her needing it later are actually pretty slim. I would use the money for college. If her mom is dead-set on doing this (and I'm not saying it's a waste of money) she will get the money herself. Good luck!
