eleaphant is the biggest creature on land.then why does it have small eyes?

In comparison to it's body they are small. But really are the size of a baseball. I think that their ears make up for it. They can hear for miles and hear very low sounds that are too low for us to hear. They talk to each other with them. I think their nose helps too. Have you ever watched on of those programs about them and the person filming them has to stay up wind from them. That way they don't smell them and charge at them.

Nature probably gave the elephant small eyes so they are less apt to become damaged if attacked. The eyes are more vulnerable say against a leopard etc. But the elephant skin is very thick, and absorbs damage.
