It is not moving very often, it rarely gets out from under the rock(its been hiding there for....about 5 days). We think it may be laying eggs or something, but we havent seen any yet. We also don't know the sex of the turtle(we don't know how to tell)

COULD BE SICK,
COULD BE HIBERNATING,
COULD BE STRESSED.
NO WAY TO REALLY TELL JUST FROM THE DISCRIPTION YOU GAVE.
YOU NEED TO TAKE THE TURTLE OUT OF THE ENCLOSURE AND EXAMINE IT. IF THERE IS RUNNING DISCHARGE, A LETHARGIC ANIMAL OR THIN DRIED SHELL AND SKIN ITS A FAIR BET ITS SICK... JIC THE ANIMAL IS LAYING, DO YOU HAVE A PROPER SUBSTRATE? YOU REALLY SHOULD CHECK THIS OUT AND TAKE HER TO A VET.

If it is hiding in a cool, dark space, the rest of the tank may be too warm or bright. It also may be that the area the tank is in is too noisy, too stressful, etc.
Sexing the turtle is tough when it is a baby or very young, but as it gets bigger, the rules for most species are:
- MALE- long, skinny tail and incurved belly
- FEMALE- short wide tail, flat or outcurved belly.

Have you had your turtles long? If both are male, the dominant one could be stressing out the passive which will eventually lead to illness or injury. If it is getting cool there and they are male and female, she may be ready to lay eggs. Are it's eyes swollen? In any case, I would take it to the vet to make sure that it is not ill. Have it checked for parasites if it is losing weight. If present, they will both need to be treated. Good luck!

Well, make sur ethe tank is clean and not in the sun alot if outside....maybe it likes it under there. What kind i=of turtle is it? I have a red eared slider and its a female...they have short claws (the males have really long claws so they can hold on to the female when mating) Is it sticking its head out to eat? If its not eating I would take it to the vet other wise I would just check the tank out....not too much heat ....enough water...ect..

i might advise going to a reptile expo, at first there you need to purchase without delay from a great breeder and would get a advantageous youthful one altho some states require you to be 18 to purchase a newborn turtle maximum breeders enable ya anyhow and that they are going to be guarantied to be healthy and stay an prolonged existence, and identification say if hes going to be like that he do no longer deserve your sale anyhow i got here across a pair around the place i stay of impolite human beings and that i do no longer visit purchase any of my animal components there anymore im sorry he had to handle you that way with any luck you will detect a expo close to via or a extra useful puppy shop a minimum of stable success ^.^
