It might have embaressed her.
And if she can't afford new school clothes then obviously she's living a hard life. That can mess a kid up.
And if your saying she needs to lose weight then you should have checked her size or invited her to go shopping with you so they would definately fit. Most likely your not the first one to think she needs to lose a few pounds, and she's most likely thought that herself so getting some shirts that are pretty and that she can't fit into probably made her feel awful.

She ..since you said could loose a few pounds probably has low self-esteem and is self conscious ... maybe if you would of wanted a better reaction maybe you should have consulted her in the process..you know how teens can be completely unpredictable, spontaneously changing all their tastes, hormones changing and all that jazz.... don't take it personally..she probably at the time didn't realize what you were doing for her ... or it was just a bad day or she was on her period.etc the possibilities are endless....when people **** on you pardon my term don't mind them they will eventually come to realize what they did. Just give it some time...don't bother with her for a while and maybe when she seems more sensible you could talk to her about it. cause keeping it in wont be any better for you... especially if your around each other at times. you know what i mean..well best of luck!!!

I agree with Melanie3x! I don't think that disrespect is the right word here. It can't be hard taking hand-outs. What would have been a better thing to do, what to ask her is you could take her shopping. Let her pick out a few things herself. I think you need to just forget about her reaction and don't take it personal. I am sure she is dealing with alot and doesn't need someone else adding to it. What you did was very nice and thoughtful. Her reaction is really embarrassment and pride coming out. I am sure she didn't mean to be mean.

Humanity will always disappoint you.
You are not wrong at all;You were expecting a positive reaction from her;because you were doing an act of kindness. In my opinion she owe you an apology; what an ungrateful Brat; do not let her get you down; you're a nice lady, trying to do the right thing.
take care and God bless you.

What a pain in the ***! you know, in your life youre going to find people like her, they dont really know the value of things, i mean, even if this clothes where ugly or whatever, she must have been really thankful for them. Dont let this girl make you feel down. Believe in Karma.
