The word is spelled "hypocrite". It was a word that originally referred to the actors in a Greek play being "under the judgement" of the role, which is what we would now call, being immersed in their character, or "playing a role to the hilt". The curious historical fact I would like to bring to your attention is that the word "hypocrite" was first used in its modern meaning by the one and only "fisher of men" Our Lord Jesus Christ, during his famous sermon on the mount. The way we use the term "hypocrite" didn't even catch on for about 200 years after Jesus first used it in the modern sense. So I guess, Jesus truly is the "Word", and he used it about everyone, we're all playing a role and we are all going to become "under judgement" for the roles that we play. You can single out your favorite "hypocrite" if you like, I'll raise my own hand and point at myself. Thanks.
