Hey I'm going to be married for the fourth and last time on May 20, 2007. So do I think marriages can be better after first time around certainly.

My first wife and I were just kids when we married. We were lucky to have a son together who is now 31 years old, his mother and I are very friendly with each other to this day.

My second wife and I had two sons together and they are both living in another province here in Canada and doing well for themselves. Their mother and I grew apart and do not see eye to eye to this day, we acknowledge one and other but I would certainly not say that we are friendly with each other.

Third time around I was trying to be the savour as she had a substance abuse issue and I thought I could help her clean up. I was very wrong and we split up after 5 years. This marriage cost me the loss of friends and family. A couple of years ago she took her life by overdosing on prescription pills. We were not friendly with each other at all after separation.

But I am very happy to report that right on this machine I met the woman with whom I am certain my remaining days on this earth I shall spend. We admire, respect, adore and are in love with one and other. Communication is the secret to any long lasting relationship and we are able to communicate very honestly and openly with each other. And for the first time in my life, even after 3 marriages, I can truly say that I love another human being.

So if your answer is a personal one and you too are getting remarried I wish you the best of both luck and happiness.

Yes, second marriages can be better. I think if you married very young the first time, or for the wrong reasons, it's very possible for the second one to be better than the first.
You do have to be willing to learn from your mistakes, and not repeat them. You also have to keep in mind that no marriage is perfect, and that you can't run out the door the minute things get difficult.
Communicate and compromise. If you can do those, you can fix nearly any problem that comes along.

All three of my marriages where a wreck. I am now in a relationship with a guy that has also had three marriages behind him. We both know what we DON'T want in a relationship and have learned tremendously through our past mistakes. As long as a person can look back at a failed marriage and come out of it wiser, yes, it can work out in a new marriage.

Life owes you nothing! A marriage is what you make of it- be it your first or fifth!
The question is - did you learn from your first marriage what made it NOT work? Was it lack of communication, lack of sex or lack of time together? Make that a point to work on in your future relationships BEFORE saying "i do".

Dont let the mistakes of your first marriage cripple you so you cant enjoy true love in another person.

Not all the time. Some people marry up to 8 times & still the marriage is heading to nowhere!
However my parents are living proof of that.
They'd been married for over 30 years. I'd consider myself truly blessed to have a love like that in my lifetime *sighs*

Yep here I am! We're very happy and we've both been married before. We learned alot and we sure do know how NOT to do something! I think it's important to really get to know what you want first. I kept being attracted to the wrong kind of a person, and it never did work, every boyfriend I had was stubborn, argumentative, controlling, negative, stingy, selfish, just like my dad.
I finally figured it out, and now have married a kind, gentle, caring, man, very mellow and I love him for the way he is. Be sure you know what you don't want and what you do want and don't' settle for anything less!

There is only one exception to have a divorce amd thats if they cheat. But if one of the partners just quit/lost interest and left. Yes the correct thing to do would be return to your first spouse because the second marriage would be considered adultery...

Very much so! I think more often than not, people LEARN from their 1st marriages, and can apply that knowledge to the 2nd marriage. And not make the same mistakes over again.

i think a person can learn alot about themselves when they get divorced and can learn from their mistakes but if you jump into a second marriage right away before you figure what went wrong with your first the second is bound to be doomed
