It is either P0441 or P1441. They are all 5-digit. This code is related to the evaporative control system. It is telling you that the computer tired to purge the vapors, and the flow was outside expected parameters.
Your car has a sealed fuel system and it is not allowed to permit vapor loss of fuel as it contributes to SMOG.
That is why the "Check Engine" light comes on if you leave the fuel cap loose.
Possible causes --
Fuel cap
Purge valve inop
Broken vacuum hose
If you are unsure what this system is for or how it operates, recommend either some library time, or take it to a reputable repair facility.

I don't have a code book in my hand and i don't know what your driving. You will always have some kind of air in your tank. Its under vacuum from the engine through the chocoal canister. A bad gas cap might be the problem too. Like i said i don't know what your driving. better off to take it to the garage if the gas cap replacement don't work. To clear the code for the moment after replacing the cap. Take your negative battery cable off for about 15 seconds or so then put back on the battery. Your engine light should be off. Don't try and do this when the car is running. Otherwise you will increase your problems.Take it to a garage if you still have a code. Good Luck.

If it's showing some kind of an engine code, then you should be able to search the Internet for something like: "engine codes vehicle make model". Where vehicle make model is whatever your vehicle is that's displaying that message. For example: engine codes 2005 Pontiac grand am
If that doesn't workout (it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the codes aren't defined on the Internet, or if it's a bit of a circus act trying to find a good site with clear definitions), you can always just go by most major auto parts store. Most of them, I believe all of these will anyway; Autozone, Checker, Pepboys, and Napa, have engine code readers in their stores just to check customers vehicles with. All the ones I've ever been to will check/reset the computer for free.

It probably is a leak in the early fuel evaporation system. Best way i've found is with a smoke machine. plug into the evap test port and pump smoke into the system. Look where the smoke is coming out, and youv'e found your leak.
