my best advice is to stop cracking your neck. I had that same bad habit, but it was the only way to get relief in my neck. Then when i was 20 years old I blew out a disc(c5-6) and then had to have major surgery. They fused a bone graft in which has left me with even more problems now 13 years later. Please quit while your ahead!!

This is a generalisation and may not apply to everyone.
Those who find relief from cracking joints, tend to have very tight muscles acting on the joint in question. Cracking the joint is a very crude form of adjustment, and can offer temporary relief. But the since the muscles are tight, they will eventually pull the joint right back into the painful position.
To alleviate the problem long term, there needs to be a determination if the joint is weak (and that's why the muscles tightened up around it) or if there is another cause. If the joint isn't compromised, then a routine of stretching the muscles (and strengthening them if they are weak) is required.
Massage can also help to relax the muscles.

You don't actually get joint pain from cracking your joints. You could be getting stiffness from something else like arthritis or Lupus or a bad pillow and mattress.
