Transport is excellent - quick, very efficient and cheap. Taxis are also quite cheap.
Singapore is a good tourist destination for a few days but much longer and you'll probably get bored.
The shopping on Orchard Road is good (although used to be better years ago when Singapore's economy wasn't doing as well).
The food is excellent and very cheap. The 'hawker stalls' often look dirty and dingy but have some of the best food. The chilli mud crab and the satay are to die for.
Some touristy things include a boat cruise to see the Merlion, Sentosa (which is an island you get to by cable car or bus with lots of activities including a beach, museums and a waterpark), the amazing open range zoo (plus the night zoo next to it), having a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel and the city generally as it is a bustling metropolis.

I'm from the Philippines and I have been to Singapore 4 times the last 3 years and I intend to go there annually. The best thing I like about Singapore is the food. I love the laksa, chicken rice, bbq chicken wings, char kway teow, satay, etc. I love shopping on Orchard Road and the seemingly endless stores and bargains. Aside from that it's a pretty mellow place for me. Sentosa isn't that enjoyable and some rides are quite overpriced. I've taken the bus and the taxi to get around and the taxi is still the most convenient although it is very hard to get one during night time when everyone is scrambling to get home. If you want to relax and shop then Singapore is the way to go. If you are looking for an adventure, consider other places instead.

It's an excellent place to visit. I've been. The transport system is excellent as the MRT trains are absolutely first rate. The taxis in Singapore are really reasonable as well. The food is excellent. I guess some things to see are the zoo, Tiger Balm Gardens, Sentosa Island, the Merlion. It's fun to just hang out on Orchard road and go shopping, hang out at a sidewalk cafe etc.

I am a Singaporean and well, as a local I suppose my impression of the nation is different but according to my non-Singaporean friends, it seems that what attracts tourists to Singapore is our shopping malls, diversity of different Asian cultures and traditions, food, low crime rate, excellent transport system and our nice blend of the East and the West. Over here, you don't have to worry about what transport to take in order to get from A to Z, for our bus, taxi and Mass Rapid Train Systems are quite cheap, punctual and efficient. For taxis, they are all metered and licensed so there is no fear of kidnapping or extortion. If you do bumped into the black sheep, you can always complain about it to the taxi company.
Also, Singapore is close to other Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Taiwan and so forth. You can always hop over to these countries for a visit from here.

S'pore as we used to call it is an awesome place to visit. It is amazingly clean and has some of the best food and shopping in all of Asia. It is very safe to walk around at night. In fact, S'pore has approximately 2% of the crime rate of an American city of the same size. That's not a typo.
The MTR (subway) is cheap, fast, and safe and will get you around the island. There is no need to rent a car when visiting. It's a great mixture of Chinese, Malay and Indian culture. The weather is 32 degrees average year round and humid. My only regret is that I'm not still living there. I would recommend it as a primary destination in the Asian region.

Hi i would certainly recommend it! if you have come here yet.I am here since i was born. The transport system is good as we have the MRT that covers the North,South,East,West places in Singapore and is fast. The other mean of transport is the public bus.Its cheaper to travel by bus and easy access too.
As for the sightseeing,
The Jurong BirdPark has four aviaries, among which is the world’s largest walk-in aviary with the tallest man-made waterfall for visitors to enjoy a close-up view of free-flying birds from Africa and South America. Bird shows, staged at the Pool Amphitheatre and Fuji Hawk Walk are entertaining.
The Sentosa island is also one of the major attractions too with the Musical fountain,Cable cars,The huge Merlion,The 4D theatre, the butterfly park, beach, dolphin lagoon,Wax museum,Underwaterworld & much more.
The other must see places is our new attaction, the esplanade..
You can also experience different cultures here visiting the Malay Village,Little India,Chinatown and Orchard road,
You must try the foods from different ethnic groups too.(we have 24hrs eat outlets).
You must try the Satays,Nasi Briyani,Chilli Crab,Laksa,Kway Teow...much more...declicious food.
Not to forget Singapore is a great place to shop !!!
If you get a visa to Malaysia ,you can take a bus there too!!
Hope to see u here soon!!!!!

Yes. will recommend it as tourist destination....but only for "shopping" or to experience the multi racial culture in Singapore and to try out the various food of the difference races.
The public transport system is good and there is peace and order in the country.
However if you are into sightseeing (eg. nature, mountains...) then singapore aint the spot...

3 words to describe it...... I LOVE IT!!! The place is clean, low crime rate, beautiful city, shopping heaven, EXCELLENT transport system..... what can you ask for more? Sure, things might be a bit more expensive compared to other Asian countries, but, are they just as good with what i mentioned? You may shop for dirt cheap stuff but it's not safe to walk alone at night. S'pore is a lot safer than any other places. They are fair in their dealing esp. if you go to big places....
They have the best Bird Parks and Underwater World.... check out the Tourism Board in S'pore and plan your trip ahead.
