Save us from what?
I do firmly believe that religions manipulate us to do terrible things in exchange for "cleaning away" our guilts. Even if you are not guilty of anything, there is always the "original sin" or something like that.
we should be saved from religions.

Good questions; amidst all the destruction going on in the world today waged under the guise of faith; does religion save us or does it destroy us. Maybe an easier question to answer would be does religion as it is practiced today and lectured to the masses help us? To that, I would say, no. Religion on its face is a good thing only if we decide through our our exploration what the holy books are suppose to mean; it is when we become lazy and allow others to interpret the holy books to us do we falter. To this end; I don't believe any person who preaches unto others is unsubjectively interpreting the scriptures. Beware of false prophets which come in many forms; including from within the churches themselves.

Blind belief, faith, and dogma can only obscure the wonders, uncertainties, and priorities of the real world. That goes for religions, politics, economics, the lot. It's why we're in such trouble, from local wars to issues like climate change, desertification, resource depletion, extinctions. Priests of all kinds serve their own ends. It's up to us to use our intelligence to serve our own, individually and collectively (which is the same, when you think about it). I like the "save us from what" answer as a good start - but you have to go beyond it.

They can, it depends on your view and how you use it, aka how you stregthen it. Say if you just get baptised into a certain church, that doesn't make you "saved," or whatever. You need to practice your religion, whichever you choose, and try to adapt it into your life. Attend meetings, etc to streghten your testimony. I for one an a Mormon, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have found indefinite salvation in this church and I have 110% sureity that it is a, if not THE, true church. NO, man cannot do right by him self. God on the other hand can save. (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Note to believe in means to do. What did Yeshua (Jesus) say do? He was the Word that came into flesh. Your bible has it all.
He has a plan for your life and he wants you to be saved and live forever.
Its simple!!! and it is truth.

Religion is an establishment of Man a small group of people come to realize that it is far simpler to manipulate the masses by telling them their God is made or broken in the confines of earthly structures such churches and instructing them to worship man-made idols like crucifixes and rosaries and mass produced statuettes of the saints...
Spirituality is the seeking of GOD (or your respective deity) and constantly trying to emulate the teachings and virtues of said religion in your daily thoughts and actions to ensure yourself that you are pleasing in the eyes of the LORD...
Oh and excuse my political incorrectness I am a Christian and I'm just accustomed to using the LORD and the Christos in my responses... I don't mean to impose my beliefs on anyone who practices any other religion. The above statement is not exclusively applicable to Christianity it goes for one and all...

True but Untrue...that is the question.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If one has faith in a universal divinity, then so be it for us Hu-mans.
On the other hand, Hu-mans have used this to rape & pillage to spread faith or to demonstrate that their religion is on top of the mountain...look what is going on right now in the world.

Religion was invented to control sexuality and crime.
Does it work as a deterrent? No. Why not? well that is another story.
