I have a semi-formal wedding and an elegant evenng out at the ballet coming up. For both, I have found really nice dresses that are short (knee length or just below). I want to wear strappy high-heeled sandals with both, and I feel uncomfortable going without stockings. Is it OK to wear nylons (not sure if I will wear pantyhose or stockings and a garter belt) with dressy heeled sandals like this? I really don't want to wear closed-toe pumps either. Some of my friends say I shouldn't wear nylons w/sandals, other say go for it. What do you think?

Yes , you should (must) wear hose with your sandals to a formal occasion. Wear ultra sheer hosiery in a 5 denier, nude, naturally with a sheer toe. Try giraldi summer light vb hose. Very sexy and utterly sheer, your legs will look elegant and sophisticated!

Someone is showing you a man's foot, and giving you advise? Beware. Anyway, it is fine to wear sheer hosiery with sandals if they have a perfectly sheer toe and heel and are very sheer and skin toned. the other lady is right,, no one will see them on your foot, and your legs will look lovely. There is nothing worse than spray on and leg paint, and the ugly uneven tones it gives, and the bottoms of bare heels showing through sandals. This new trend is genuinely without class, and has no place at a semi formal gathering.

I believe that you should wear pantyhose with a sheer toe & heel, and in a shade closest to your skin tone. A control top might be something to consider; if they last through several launderings, the control tops seem to keep their 'stay up' properties longer than regular ones. And, they seem to make me always conscious of keeping my posture. I would not suggest stockings/garter belt unless you were planning an intimate date after the wedding/ballet; your partner might appreciate the supposed sexiness of watching you remove them...

If your old enough to dress formal to a wedding,why the hell do you need any ones approval about wearing pantyhose with sandals?I personally think it's sexy as hell as do other men.Go with the hose and stop worrying about what some fashion ding dong thinks.Have you seen how most females dress today?Scary huh.I applaud you for caring how you look.Wear the hose and look Hot while the rest look like they didn't try.Have fun at the reception:)

Wear ultra sheer stockings in a skin tone, or some summertime pantyhose in a very light denier. The have them at stockingstore.com under sheer pantyhose that are made in Europe just for wear in the summer with sandals. They are much classier in Europe, and have developed stockings, thwt are so light in tecture you hardly know you are wearingt them.

It is ok to wear whatever you want. If you are worried about your toes, then wear toe less hose. Personally, I find toe less uncomfortable, and I kinda like the look of my painted toes peeking out from under the nylon.
It's up to you. Don't be a fashion follower. Be yourself. Be you. Whatever makes you comfortable is what you should wear. "Fashionistas" don't get it - we're only on this planet for a short while, and we should be 'allowed' to wear whatever the heck we like to wear. "Hose and open toes don't mix" blah blah blah. I do it all the time and still have yet to be arrested by the fashion police. In fact, I get many compliments on my legs and feet.
Do what you want to do. Be you, be happy!

You are right in wanting to wear stockings to an event like that. Just make sure they are very sheer, and have clear toes and heels, and are a good skin tone. You will be very well dressed in a classy way.

I think that you should shave your legs and wear the sandals without the nylons or stockings.

There is no problem if you wear sandal foot, sheer stockings in beige or suntan. no one will know you are wearing them but you, and your legs will look perfect. Sandal foot shockings have perfectly sheer toe and heels, and won't be seen in your shoes.
