no way. goaltending is not their only problem. if he gets injured in a game it'll make him be out too long. he is not the main answer to detroit's problems. if he gets injured, ozzie and jimmy howard will be there to help fill his position. their main problem is that they focus on being on top in the regular season and click too early in the regular season. they need to play as one unit in the playoffs as well as they do in the regular season. i think they need more games against the better western teams and less games against these crappy teams they face in their weak division. they don't get challenged enough in the west in the regular season. their solution to their playoff woes need to come from within the team. zetterberg and datsyuk need to step it up a notch in the playoffs instead of being invisible. the team needs to worry about who their next captain will be and how they will score goals without shanny's help. they need a leader who can lead them and motivate them. unfortunately, there will not be another great leader like yzerman. i like their choices for the new captain in lidstrom, zetterberg, chelios and draper. any one of those players can carry the team. i think they should go with a veteran like lidstrom, chelios or draper becuz they have more experience than does zetterberg. they are relatively somewhat younger this upcoming season. i don't know what to expect this season due to the big changes they went through with shanny leaving them for the new york rangers and yzerman retiring. it should be interesting to see what this team can do. i think they will still be first or second in their division. they are probably a fourth or fifth place team.

No, Hasek is not the solution. The Red Wings are an old team in general, and adding another older, injury-prone player doesn't help, especially since they're so thin at goaltender now that Legace is gone. Osgood can be great in spurts, but he's too inconsistent to be a worthy starter for such an elite team. Its hard to tell what the Wings will get out of a guy like Hasek. Yes, he had a great year last year, but when a goalie reaches his age, his value as a goaltender declines markedly every year, not to mention he becomes even more prone to serious injury. Hasek is definitely not the answer to the Red Wings' problems at goaltender.

Hasek is not the answer to anyone's problem unless you're playing against the Red Wings.
He is tempermental, unreliable, stubborn and although wildly talented still, he's getting old. Ottawa was glad to be rid of him.
As a Buffalo fan I knew he'd let the Sens down and he will do the same for the Red Wings---too risky.

Hasek needs to face the fact he's not a young buck anymore...
He will more than likely injure himself and the Wings will trade for either Aebischer or Biron.

even besides the undeniable fact that i'm a red Wings fan I nonetheless imagine of him as a Buffalo Sabres participant. Technically, he in straightforward words gained ONE cup with the Wings. In 2008 he replaced into replaced with the help of Osgood. I under no circumstances loved him a lot and as with each the Wings reliable communities the goaltending replaced into no longer what made them the most efficient.

NOO the red wings have a nack for signing old goalies and saying they are the key for a cup winning team and when they lose they release the tender and the cylce repeats. They should have signed a young goalie of the FA market say like andrew raycroft he would have been a good addition and manny leagce i dont c anything wrong with him that was a huge mistake for the organization

Nope. I highly doubt it. Last time around he was in Detroit, he screwed the team and I see him doing the same. He's not the same player he was a few years ago and the retirement and the lockout affected him deeply(groin).

I don't know if he is THE answer but a .925 save pct. last season shows if he had not gotten injured I'd bet Ottawa would be sipping from Stanley. Worth the gamble picking him up, I'd say.
