I'm not entirely sure that stupid is the right word. Instead let's try uninterested. Example, how many people actually voted in the last election? Of the number of citizens qualified (read old enough) to vote, how many are registered to do so? I don't see the problem being a lack of intelligence as much as a lack of caring who runs our lives. That having been said, if government disappeared tomorrow, it wouldn't be long before some dynamic leader type rose to take power and control, this time without the check and ballance system we have now. Know what? People would let it happen because they just don't care!

Hard Question...
So technically we do... we elect citizen to run to governments.
On the other hand 1% of the population control 99% of the assets.
So you could say that thing a run by the people who control the resources. And they have never given up that control... and that has been since before this country started. The rich lords controlled the land in the old kingdoms and the rich still do.
To get to the heart of you Q It takes a lot to organize people and there are a lot of different people who don't really like one another.
People might be able to govern a small town but there has to be a large overseeing organization to run 300,000,000 people.

Yes, I believe they are.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of
president represents, more and more closely,
the inner soul of the people. On some great and
glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach
their heart's desire at last and the White House
will be adorned by a downright moron."

i do no longer think in there being a "stupidest us of a." There are clever and not so clever human beings in each us of a so it rather is ridiculous to think of that an entire us of a of individuals is stupid. you would be insulted in case you're from a us of a that every physique is calling stupid.

freedom is infinite responsibility. freedom means that you have to take care of many things that you wouldn't even think of if you had rules to follow. Many people are not that independent.

Jealousy, pure and simple. Just spiteful green-eyed jealously.
