Ever stayed in one of those motels/hotels that was so cheap and seedy that you would never tell anyone about it? Here's your chance!

Totally. It was so cheap and seedy it only cost 25 bucks a night. Bed linens were moldy, shower had no hot water and there was a lizard in the windowsill. Porn was the only thing on TV. It was gross at the time but looking back it was funny.

I once had to stay in a very crappy motel (the only one in town) while I was on a business trip to a very small, middle of nowhere town.

Anyway, the woman at the front desk but me in a room that had a broken lock. But I didn't really care because I was so tired.
Well in the middle of the night I was woken to hear two very drunk men outside my room fidgeting with the door. Next thing I know they burst through the door and collapse on my bed! No kidding! Apparently they knew that this room had a broken lock and would occassionaly stumble in after getting drunk at the bar to have a free stay at the motel. That was pretty funny.

AND THEN, the next time I had to work in that town I stayed in a motel that was about 30 minutes away, to avoid that place. This time the clerk put me in room number 1, right next to the front desk. About an hour later I saw a shadow shroud over my door and when I went to investigate I saw that the man at the front desk was looking at me through the key hole. Needless to say, I got the hell out of there.

The moral of my stories are: Dont stay in motels in Northern Maine.

In 1974, we went to San Diego, California for a junior bowling tournament held annually there around Thanksgiving weekend.
We stayed at a motel called the El Portal. Plug something in-and see sparks! Was that something that just crawled across your bare foot?? The word "dump" would be praise for this place.
Perhaps since then they upgraded the place-to a landfill!

It was called "The Sea Vacationer" in Virginia Beach, Va.

Sounds nice right, wrong...it was a total dive.
I remember when we first walked in the drop ceiling was ready to fall since it had extensive water damage and the brown stains on the remainder of the ceiling added to the decor. The room itself was maybe about 200 square feet total. We were within 5 feet of the pool that had numerous kids running and screaming all over the place. We requested non-smoking but got a room that has burn holes all over the comforter, sheets and drapes. Lastly we turned right around and proceeded to get our money back and stayed at the place right beside it.

In 1993, we stayed at Strickland's in the Poconos (Pennsylvania). It was one of those "romantic" retreats, whose rooms included a heart-shaped bathtub, sauna, small pool, and round bed. The decor hadn't changed since the 60's, and everything was falling apart. When we first entered our room, we were overwhelmed by the mildew odor. This place was a dump! It was so bad, we ended up laughing really hard, and making fun of everything. Good thing it didn't cost much, or I would have been really pissed.

The one with the hookers outside the place, roaches inside the rooms, and dirty shower and used sheets.
Answer to your question, no way! I would rather stay at a clean hotel/motel.

Once we were passing through Great Falls, Montana, we stayed at the cheapest place. The ceiling fan was hitting moths that were flying around the ceiling. Plastic curtains on the windows. Really old rickety place. I never felt safe at all! LOL We were motorcycling through!

My Friend and I went to NY to sing in the choir for Benny Hinn and we stayed at one of the worst places I could imagine. The only reason we picked it was because it was close to Madison Square Garden. Believe me I did some real praying that night before I went to bed.
