Bashing each other seems pointless, would either side do what it takes to sort out America's part in global warming for instance

Looking at your country from the outside, if I think of US presidents
Bush, Regan, Nixon - wouldn't be having a pint with any of these any time soon

Clinton, Kennedy- seemed like they could hold their end in a pub chat.

Democrats not "remotely conservative" - depends on your definition of liberal and conservative- they're hardly anarchists or revolutionaries

No you just have to be wealthy. Or you start from the bottom and work up, like start out as a mayor, then Governor and so on. Or an actor.

Being remotely conservative will prevent you from being nominated as a Democrat. Being highly conservative helps a lot running in a nationwide election. President and Vice President are the only nationally elected offices. Senators and Representatives are elected in a single state.
