My sister has suffered the same problem her whole life. About 3 years ago she started making a few changes. What she did was to eat her favorite fattening meal one day per week. All the other days, she only eats grilled or oven broiled meats with a salad for dinner. She rarely ever eats rice or potatoes but she does eat sushi whenever we go out. Also for breakfast, she eats low sugar cereal with skim milk and for lunch it's typically a scoop of tuna with wheat thins or another bowl of cereal. She says she used to always be hungry but the more she disciplined herself the easier it became. Her stomach has shrunk and it takes less food to fill her up than when she was overweight 3 years back. It's hard work but you have to have determination. My sister spent so much money on diets that never worked for her. She used to be 267 lbs at 5 ft 7. Now she's down to about 138 and she looks GOOD!!

Hon, I am in a similar boat. I've tried every diet out there..except for the grapefruit diet haha..eww. When I consulted my doctor about a diet she told me to avoid eating cakes and candy bars all day while watching tv. I haven't been to that doctor since. Some people who haven't been there are so insensitive about such things. Just because someone is a little overweight doesn't mean that all they do is sit on their butt and shovel junk food in by the truck load. I have tried the so-called "miracle cure" of counting calories. I GAINED WEIGHT!!! I eat small good meals and work out everyday now and don't worry so much about calories. The only thing I have found to work is to drink a ton of water, eat very little nutrious and balanced mini meals, not eat after seven at night and get plenty of sleep. I don't use dinner plates anymore. I use the smaller luncheon plates or bread plates as some call them. That way your smaller portions look bigger because they're on a small plate. I also try to enjoy and savor each bite and to chew it extremely well. When I eat more slowly I feel full sooner. I have a terrible sweet tooth..but I've noticed that nothing tastes like that first bite of whatever sweet thing you're eating..so just take a few small bites and that will satisfy your craving of sweets without eating very much of it. If you have a friend that would like to join you it makes working out a lot more fun and helps you to not skip a day. You're not alone in your struggles! You CAN do it!!

I don't mean to be harsh but there is a miracle cure and it is a simple math equation: you take in less calories than you burn. This doesn't even mean that you have to eat less. You just have to eat less calories than what you burn. If you choose your foods and your workouts correctly, you can eat a lot of food without feeling hungry. (Think healthy foods like fruits and veggies, poultry, fish.) Also, allow yourself to eat ice cream or cake or whatever every now and then, just know that you have to LIMIT your portions. If you can't control your portions, don't even try to taste it.

You also have to eat at the right times, never withing 3 hours before bed time. Also, you should be eating 6 times a day; 3 meals and 3 "snacks". You need to keep food in your system at all times to keep your metabolism up. Forget about diets, they don't work because they are tempoary. Think about changing your lifestyle.

I don't know why I can gain or lose weight very easy. When I am very busy at work, I can not eat and I lose weight 3-5 in 2 days. It is just eating habit.

Exercise is good, but after that you grant yourself lot of food. It does not work.

You need to work, lot of physical work and eat less. If you have a house, do your garden work, clean house at least one a day. You can go hiking or playing with you kids. You need to do something that make you get sweat. AND DONT EAT more than what you need daily. Good luck.

Weight plans have never really worked for me either. I would just cut back on your starches like potatoes and bread and mac n cheese. Try drinking mostly water or juices. Instead of eating chips or drinking sodas. Eat fruit or yogurt or pudding as a snack and drink water. I have also tried different diet supplements trust me they don't help either. I lost 20 lbs just by doing what I mentioned here.

Trying diets, especially fad diets, will do nothing but screw up your body inside. And trying exercise plans when they aren't things you enjoy will not last either.

As far as the diet goes, talk to your doctor. Get him/her to refer you to a nutritionist, and they will put you on a 'diet,' but it will really just be a healthy eating pattern. You have to make the choice to stick to this eating pattern, though. You have to increase your willpower, because cheating will not get you what you want.

When it comes to exercise, you have to pick something you want to do. Go for a walk every evening. Start with twenty minutes a night, and slowly get up to 40 minutes or an hour. But make it something you enjoy, or you won't stick with it. No skipping nights because you're tired.

Often times, people are unhappy with things in their lives, and they need something to make themselves feel better. How often have we heard chocolate makes it all better? Eating is instant gratification.
So, my last piece of advice is this: aside from your weight, what in your life is making you unhappy? You have to work on that as well as the weight, because you can be skinny and be just as miserable.
