The ideal age, from what my wife's doctor told us, is between age 22 and 38. Before that range you run the risk of extremely permature birth, after that range you run the risk of birth defects.

Good luck to you.

The age after which you are married, and and can provide a stable home. If that happens to be 20 then great, or maybe it's 38! True it is safer these days to have a baby before 30, but with all the advacnes in medicine, it is not that uncommon for women to have babies after 30, and as long as you ar emonitored, usually things turn out fine! (if the pill holds out this time) We will be having our last after 30, time will tell!

Everybody is different, so this is hard to answer. I had my first child at 28 and my second child at 39 (5 miscarriages in between). Both children are fine, no problems. Many women are having babies later and later, but it is true that fertility drops off after 35. I think a good time is a time when you are both emotionally and financially ready to have a baby and enjoy that baby. Good luck!

After 35 risk go up. The best time to plan is when you and your husband are ready. Preferably own a home and have stable jobs. You should educated your selfs about pregnancy birth and child raising before getting pregnant. IN THE PERFECT SITUATION. I had my 1st age 18 still living at home....on my 3rd now own a home boat new cars and feel much happier about the pregnancy.

I agree with aquanaschild. I feel that it is more a matter of "ideal finances and marital situation" than age. I was 33 before my hubby and I were ready; while my brother and sister in law were 25. It's all about your living situation. It is true that there is a slightly elevated risk after 35; but I know plenty of women in their late thirties and early forties who were fine and delivered healthy babies.

That is just bunch of garbage. More women are waiting until they are in their 30's because they want to be stable in their careers and relationships before having kids. There are also women in their 40's that are having first babies and a majority of them have healthy babies.

After the age of 34 there are more risks and chances of down syndrome. I haven't known anyone to have problems but I do know that the doctors monitor you closer.

I know in my pregnancy books, women after 45 years old are considered high risk because 25% of women over 45 have children with Down Syndrome. Every year you wait it does become harder and harder to get pregnant and I am guessing your eggs get "older and older" and are not as "good"

If you wait for perfect timing, you will never have a baby.
