I have been taking lipitor for three years now. Just recently, within the past 8 months I have gained weight, been exhausted, and more recently my muscles are weak and achey. I was taking lipitor until I read about using vitamin c 1000-2000 mgs/day. The joint weakness has calmed down a bit. I am slowly gaining more stamina each day. Has anyone else tried something different? tks - kt

I think amount of lipitor makes a big difference. There are side effects - but most people don't experience any of them. You can try adding CoQ10 pills (health food store) when you take the lipitor. I've been on 10 mgs for many years.....

The dr wanted me on 20 - but I wouldn't take it - so I took the 10 and it worked for me - so I may start cutting the 10 in half. Walking every day reduces cholestrol a lot.

Next time you get your blood checked - ask them to run the blood test on muscle aches. There is a specific test while taking lipitor that they can check to see what effect, if any, it's having on muscle weakness, etc. They can monitor you pretty closely.

you can go to web md and look it up, but I think it would be better to go to the doctor instead. you really need to have blood tests about every 6-12 months to check for liver damage
