My mom: Last year exactly this week. I was hospitalized for over 3 months. Every night i was in the hospital my mom stayed with me. The first 10 days I was there, I nearly died. Because I couldn't breathe well, I had to have a trach put in to keep my airway open. My whole family, especially my mom, set asid her life this last year to help me get better. She has do to do so much for me, since everything has to be sanitized like a hospital. It's difficult, but she barely complains. My grandmother, her mom, has dementia, which is a lot like alzheimers. So, actually there is two of us to take care of. My mom is the strongest person I know. And, she is and always will be my hero. Through her, I found the strength to fight my odds at surviving this whole ordeal. And, I found out this Friday, I can get my trach out. And, my life will be almost back to normal. It has been a difficult year for my whole family, but it is my mom, who has had to deal with the blunt of it. She's a wonderful woman. And, I strive to be like her more every day. (I know this is more information than what you probably wanted. But, it just felt right in saying it. Thanks.)

I have a very dear friend Trish. She has been fighting cancer in her brain for years. The first tumor she had removed left her with epileptic seizures which meant she lost her job.She has as many as fifty a month and that is down from the over one hundred she use to have. She takes at least one pill every two hours for seizures or the tumor. Her husband recently decided he couldn't stay married to her anymore. Even though she has gone through so much, she remains one of the most loving christian people I know. Instead of getting depressed over the hubby leaving, she started a support group for women in similar situations. She is in my Sunday school class and never fails to add to what the lesson is teaching. She is my hero for going through it all with courage.I wish there were more people in this world like her.

Frank Sinatra. The man was called "The Chairman of the Board" for a reason. He had all the best women in the world, had more influence than the president, and was incredibly wealthy. In fact, not only did he get JFK elected, he also provided him with women. Including Marilyn Monroe! Geez...what a life. The man was Hugh Heffner before Hugh was.

I know this probably sounds cliche, but Michael Jordan. If you knew me, you'd be like WHATTT??? because I don't follow basketball that much, if at all. However, his message really got me started in pursuing my goals and dreams. Much of my life has always been taking the "safe" road and making the "safe" choices, and many times I would be sitting at home and doing nothing because I would be scared to take that first step. I'd always have dreams in my head, but never chase them...that is, until i read this quote:
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan
And ever since then, I've started taking those chances, and even missed those "shots," but through it all, I know I'm trying, learning, and chasing my dreams. His quote has really motivated me and has kept me going. That's why he is my hero.

My mom. She grew up with 10 other siblings, stayed with my physically and emotionally abusive father for 32 years to try to keep everyone else happy, managed to turn her life around many times. She is now happily remarried with a great job and has a daughter who is very proud of her. She doesn't hold grudges and she doesn't let other people's bad words affect her. I don't know how she does it!

My hero is my stepmom.........she is just the greatest...it is b/c of her that I am the person I am today. She took the mommy role when I was 5 and I have to say..I didn't make it easy for her, but she was there for everything..thick and thin. She has been my mom for 26 years and I love her for everything she has done.
