hey, i recently started listening to rise against. they are now my favorite band. their sound is freakin awesome. what are some other melodic hardcore bands?

hey, i looked at minor threat on napster (which is what i use) and there's nothing by them on. it sucks, but im not gonna illegally download anything and i can't afford another music service.

i would suggest Minor Threat, they are melodic harcore ('81-'85), and were very socially aware (like RA). i'm fairly sure that minor threat is one of the bands that inspired rise against. i'd recomend their complete discography.

also, Lifetime is an old hardcore (and melodic i think) that you should check into as well.

the Misfits are also pretty good they are pretty melodic, and pretty cool, their songs are of a darker halloween kinda subjects, the Misfits-Walk Amoung Us is a really great album.

the Gorilla Biscuits are another great band. they are one of my favorites. late 80s melodic hardcore, as well.

strike anywhere is a more current band, they're pretty good.

dude, the clash are not hardcore. melodic--yes, but more in the pop sense.

oh, and as far as Rise Against, I hope you have Siren Songs of A Counter Culture. i think it's better than their new album. but Tim is still awesome.
