I think it may just be that in today's society being ethnic is more glorified so people try to fit in with the crowed but we all should be proud of what we are

It's no secret that White man had it good for a long time.We just happened to be the last bunch of folks to have people of other races and cultures as slaves on a large scale.
Slavery is nothing new to the world. It's been around since the beginning of history, and still exists today in one form or another.
It's just that there was never any such thing as photography,or telegraph,or world-wide media before Whites engaged in the ownership of slaves. The advent of these technologies coincided with the slave era of North America. Thus the vast majority of graphical historic reminders of slavery depicts people of European descent using and abusing people of African descent.
Some Blacks in America want to hang on to the lingering (and justified) anger. Some Whites in America seem to harbor some form of ancestral guilt.I hope I need not mention the civil rights struggle of the middle of the last century. It should still be fresh in all of our memories. If you weren't there then you should atleast know something about it from old TV footage or Social Studies class (as I do.).
Entitlement programs and quotas don't help matters either. They help fewer people than they cripple, and engender feelings of alienation amongst disadvantaged Whites, thereby fueling racial tensions.
I say the best man or woman should get the job, let's all shut the **** up and get our asses to work, and it's time to stop looking backwards and start aiming forward!

To me it shouldn't be. But maybe because white is associated with racism in America. And to be honest with you, if some white person got on TV and said "white power, I am proud to be white" (like black power/brown pride) a lot of people, esp. minorities will find it offensive. It's wrong but that is how it is. For ex:
My family is very stable when it comes to finance, I wouldn't say wealthy but... I know a lot of people like me who are the same and don't go around saying what they have because people already know and that would make me seem way too vain and people would think I feel that I am better than everyone. I like being how I am so why hide?
Believe it or not, but in America, being white is a good thing and it's like my wealth factor, they know it is good, but they do not want to flaunt it because they know that a lot of people will get on them for that. It's kind of like tooting your own horn.
i'm having a hard time describing...lol but
A lot of races seem to be ashamed of who they are, though. But I never heard it in this case. Weird.
I've never head of white people saying they are something else, but they do because of self-esteem and probably to add a little "something" in there. I know a lot of people of my race who say they are "mixed with (insert race here)" knowing that they are not just to fit in. So maybe that is why they do what they do.

I think that it is harder for people to be their self rather than a color.I think alot of times people hide behind things that are more obvious rather than just being who we are.Sometimes people just try to "live-up"to what other people think they should be,good or bad. Don't be afraid of what you don't understand. Grasp it and learn it.
"white people"have not had high standings in history but neither has any other race for that matter.Bottom line..be proud of you.You didn't make the choices our ancestors made.

Well, it's good you have become sensitive. In an society where majority is white or black, they will alway get the most pressures of setting the standard about life from other minority groups.

I'm white, nobody gives me sh_t about it. I am proud of who I am. I also speak the language of the country I'm in. Nothing to be ashamed of. Be who you are and don't worry about it.

I hadn't noticed it and most of my friends are white and we don't try to pretend to be Polynesians or Hutus. Nope, we are just plum tickled to be white folks. And I think most white folks feel that way too.

lol I'm very happy to be white. Only wiggers (G-tards) try to pretend they're not white, and that's just because they've clearly suffered brain damage or something.
