my own cause the specialist that delivered my baby told me i had an incompetant cervix. i am pregnant now and i went to see a differnt specialist and she said there is no way i had an incompetant cervix cause it would have been painless and your water wouldn't brake. In which i was in alot of pain I had contractions and my water broke. The funny thing is I went into labor at night but early in the day i had went to my doctor and told him that something was wrong I was having pains every so often and was wondering if I was in labor or something. The doctor had told me to pee in a cup and he had thought it was bladder infection. It did turn out I had bladder infection but I was really in labor. This was the second time I had bladder infection in my pregnancy. I have a hard time trusting doctors so for this pregnancy I am trusting myself and finding out all I can to make sure i have a successful pregnancy.

You do have cramp like pains when you have a bladder infection and are in late pregnancy,I'm sure you will not be thrown into labor because of a bladder infection. It must have been time for the baby to come,my sister had the same problem and the Dr. didn't know if she was in labor or if she was having bladder spasms from the infection she had.it turned out it was just bladder spasms but they induced her labor anyway because she was near her due date, but it was a very painful labor because being induced int labor is more painful than going into labor naturally.Bladder infections are very common in pregnant women,I never had a bladder infection until I was pregnant with my first child!!!If you are worried get a second or even third opinion to put your mind at ease.If you feel like the doctor isn't treating you right,he probably isn't!!Get a doctor who explains things to you so you can understand what's going on with your body and read up on the stages of pregnancy.Reading helped me to understand what I was going through and my developing baby,it made me feel closer to my child too,and confident that everything was going the way it was supposed to.Go to a bookstore or library and look for books about the pregnancy and trimesters and how the baby is developing. It's amazing what you can learn, like at 2 months your baby is the size of your pinkie finger nail and at 5 months your baby weighs 3 or 4 lbs.!!!I hope this helped you!!!

ANY type of infection CAN bring about premature labor, including bladder infections, if you ever suspect you have one during pgcy, take care of it right away. (that doesnt mean they ALWAYS will , but yes, they can.)

by specialist do you mean perinatologist? if you are not seeing one you definintely need to be... and they will all have different opinions so be sure to find one who understands your concerns, and is willing to work with you and be extra vigilant in checking you and making sure this all works out ok this time. IC could certainly cause your water to break, especially if you were dilated enough for it to happen. did you original doc not check your cervix on the day you told him you were having contractions?? that was pretty negligent in my opinion.. insist to your new doctor that whenever you arent feeling right or having contractions, that you be checked. You are going to have to be your own advocate on this one, trust me.

Just having a bladder infection won't cause premature labor...I had a few during both of my pregnancies (and many outside of pregnancy)...I had different complications with my first so he was born prematurely...My second however, was born right on time..My bladder infections had nothing to do with when they were born..I can't imagine that was why you had an early birth with yours

It would not cause premature labor unless you had the infection for a long time. I had a bladder infection and my doctor prescribed Kaflex (SP).

Sorry that you can't even trust a doctor!! A bladder infection won't cause premature labour but you really need it taken care of. Good luck!

It can cause some cramping but I don't believe it can actually bring about labor.
