Georgia is an Eastern European country. From time to time, I hear some geographers argue that portions of Georgia are in Asia. Interestingly, they can never articulate or agree on which portions they consider Asian or why. I think they just like to argue because otherwise they will be unemployed.

I'm from Western Europe and in the 20th century, even some of us Europeans didn't think of Georgia as part of Europe because they were locked down in the Soviet Union and we grew up knowing very little about these hostage Soviet nations. But we no longer have that excuse. Nowadays, saying that Georgia is in Asia would be a remarkable display of ignorance. People need to understand that European Union and Europe are not the same thing. Britain will soon leave the EU but it remains in Europe!
