I have back pain due to overweight. Here is what I do:
Sleep on a firmer mattress, the firmest mattress you can sleep through the night on. I use a pillow that has a hollow center so my neck is supported and my spine is in a natural position. The sides of the pillow are larger so I can sleep on my side and my spine is straight. You may be able to accomplish this without any pillow using a rolled up hand towel.
When I have low back pain, I do an exercise that strengthens the area and aligns the spine more correctly. As your baby grows, it makes your spine straighten in a part where it should curve in toward your abdomen. Many people say crunches help support this area, but while you are pregnant, crunches are not as useful. The exercise I use will help regardless of being pregnant or not.
Here is what I do: While standing support your balance by holding a door jamb or something sturdy. Position yourself so there is plenty of room behind you. Bearing all your weight on one leg, exercise the other leg by pushing it back and then allowing it to return to rest next to your weight bearing foot. Repeat this 15 to 30 times until the muscles you use to make the motion start to feel a burn or fatigue feeling. Repeat the same amount of repetitions for the other leg.
As you do this, allow your stomach to bulge out and your back to sway inward in an arching motion. This does therapy on the vertebrae that could be causing the pain. Attempt to push the leg back keeping the knee un-bent. Attempt to hold the leg in the back-most position and then rest your leg a moment next to your other leg before pushing it back again. The idea is to cut down on the swing assist of momentum you get when you don't stop or hesitate in the exercise. The idea is to work the muscles, not just move the leg.
You should feel exertion in your buttocks and the muscles in the back above the glute area. You may not notice results in the first several days, but continue the exercise every day maybe twice a day. In time the muscles will help support your vertebrae in the proper position and the sorness of the muscles will ease as well. You should use ice on areas that are in pain along with an allowed level of Ibuprophen or naproxen. (Advil, Motrin or Aleve) Consult with your doctor about how much and if you can or cannot take these during pregnancy.
Get your husband or baby-daddy to massage the soreness out too!
Here's to having your child as pain-free as possible!

I had 5 pregnancies, and found out quickly that the BEST way to avoid back strain during your term is; to RECLINE with your feet UP, whenever you can! Doing 10 leg leisurely leg lifts (four inches only) during these rest periods, does strengthen your muscles. But don't rush. Take your time, as baby will kick you in the ribs if you try and be too athletic.

Alfred?... are you pregnant?... or are you talking about the back pain of the busy husband of a pregnant lady??... lol...
Basically, all back pains, pregnant or not, have similar prognostics...
1- sleep on a firmer mattress
2- make SOME exercise...
3- use back pain gel...sold in any good pharmacy..
4- get plenty of rest
5- the pain is mostly in the last couple of months... it will subside
It is not easy, but like any pain or ache, if it persists, see a physician...
Good Luck....

I DON'T THINK THAT'S SOMETHING YOU CAN AVOID.BECAUSE THE WEIGHT OF THE BABY AUTOMATICALLY PUTS A STRAIN ON YOUR LOWER BACK.YOGA EXERCISES I FIND GAVE THE MOST RELIEF ON THE LOWER BACK. BECAUSE THEY ALSO STRENGTHEN YOUR BACK.
