Errr, if it matters, its an old leather guard, kink community thing. Left for dominant or top, right for submissive or bottom.
Though for most people it would just be a casual preference.

Maybe they prefer one leg over the other. I don't wear ankle bracelets that much, so I don't remember which leg I wear it on. I've never hear of a "mythological" reason, though.
