Since clams aren't an intelligent being (relative to mammals) and can't communicate with us, we can only go on theories. My theory is that a clam has no conscience, no awareness, only instinct, and is void of emotional feelings. Therefore, a clam is not happy, sad, or mad... they only know instinct and they are hard wired to survive, which includes eat, rest, and procreation.

I believe that bearded clams are the happiest by far, but they need a lot of attention, and get upset if you pay attention to strange bearded clams.

I don't know, but probably pretty happy. A bearded clam when it's eaten is very very happy.
