because i'm stay at malaysia and see the movie once from tv when 2003 or 2004, if i didn't wrong...i find all the shop at my hometown already but still can't get the vcd or dvd! addition didn't have credit card, so can't buy online!
really hope for more information about the band!

The band that wrote that song is called "fountains of wayne" they also did "stacy's mom". I think the movie was just about your basic one hit wonder. hence the oneders.

It means 'Jack the Lads Swing'. Jaime Jay (Marvin's ex) gave them the name because they were originally UFO when auditioning for X Factor, and as Louis pointed out there is already a rock band called UFO.

Its an entirely fictional movie. There is no such band. If another band shares the name, it is only a coincidence. The song, "That Thing You Do" was specifically written for the movie, it was not around in the 60s.

Actually the movie is based on a FICTITIOUS band called the "Oneders"...pronounced like "wonders" but everyone in the movie mistook the pronunciation for "OH-NEE-DERS" The movie was NOT based on a true story.

No. There is no real band named the "Wonders" (or as Jonathan Schaek in the movie was concerned, the "ONEders"). The movie is based on the "mop-top band" phenomena of the 1960s.

Wow! I thought i was the only one!! :) !! I have loved that movie since i was pretty small! I love that freakin song! I thought the ending of that movie was really good when she hooks up with that guy named guy! Is Liv Tyler the one that plays....i think her name is like Faye or something like that

DUHHHHH yes it's based on a true story!!!!!!!!! that story is on how their song was they're only hit single. after all the other songs didn't work out they broke up and the names and ppl were real in life i love it too! and no, "fountains of wayne" did not write that song. if u look in the booklet it says the oneders wrote it
