Not sure how much it costs...I'd imagine not too much, cause a lot of people do it. But they put it in the paper, I know that...at least they do in my hometown. Fot three days...what it was and what you changed it to.
I'd change mine if I got married. I believe you get it changed at the courthouse of the town you live in...that's probably a good place to start, since it's a legality issue.

Maybe it's a lot in the USA. I did it in Australia and it cost almost nothing. Just fill out some forms, and pay the fee and the registrar office posted out the documentation in a couple of weeks.

It depends on where you live. Here in Ontario, Cananda I think the cost is about $130 for each name change. Most likely you would have to complete and application about yourself and have proof of citizenship.

where are you? the legal steps would be different in different countries. in australia you can call yourself anything you like.
presumably your country has a registry of birth, deaths & marriages. to do this legally, this would be the place to start in the city of your birth. that would have a cost and probably stamp duty as well.

It really depends on where you live. In many states, the application is free. But go check the government website for your state, you will get firm answers there.
